Reflections Project

PHOTOSHOP--REFLECTIONS PROJECT

You have been hired as a graphic designer for the advertising department of Time magazine. They want you to create an advertising design that show how objects reflect. The ad should also include the logo of the item (ex. nike) and a textured background that showcases depth. They also want you to create a catchy slogan to go along with the advertisement. The font choice that you select for this ad should be appropriate for the type of ad you create. Use dafont.com to select a font that would work best for you ad. The objective is to learn how to use the tools of Photoshop to create creative effects. You are to follow the directions given by the project manager for the target audience to complete the project. Once complete then you should review the checklist for quality assurance before turning in your work.
Open and save files/documents/images needed to complete the project. Save them in your Photoshop folder on your flash drive. Follow the instructions in the PDF document. Make sure to label all of your layers in the Layers Palette and that each item is cut out with a Layer mask. Create the reflections project effect with an image of your choice. DO NOT USE IMAGES THAT ARE AT AN ANGLE. ONLY USE SIDE OR FRONT IMAGES! Click on the tutorial on how to create the effect. Your Photoshop image size is 720x480 pixels. You can select the wall colors, but keep the floor colors black/peach or grey/white! Remember the Wall Colors must be light and dark colors of the same hue. Save the project as a PSD until you have completely finished! Once you have completed the project, save it as a PSD and a JPEG file. Place only the JPEGand PSD file in the network folder labeled as last name + first initial + reflect. This Project is due by the end of the school day on Friday.
You can create a 2nd reflection project for extra credit. Place only the JPEG file in the network folder labeled as last name + first initial + reflect2. For the extra reflection project you must use different colors of light and dark for the back wall from what you used for the first reflection project. You must also reflect 3 different images and have a 4th image in the background oversized with opacity to see through.
QA Checklist

1 - Images created at 720 x 480

2 - Wall colors different hue of same color (ex. light blue/dark blue)

3 - Floor colors either black with grey highlight or peach with white highlight

4 - Highlight on wall and floor is feathered

5 - Object advertised reflected on stage

6 - Any items that touch the stage are reflected

7 - Logo of item included in ad

8 - Catchy slogan included in ad

9 - Text font appropriate for type of ad

10 - Background has depth created by using filters

11 - All objects scaled proportionately

12 - All objects cut out clean using layer mask

13 - All layers are labeled

14 - Graphic is saved as a PSD and JPEG format as instructed
and saved in the network folder.
